Les Bordes Golf Club is a private club which offers its members and their guests exclusive usage of its extensive facilities, including two championship courses and a par three course designed by two world renowned golf architects. The 7,391 yard (6,759 meters), Gil Hanse-designed New Course, inspired by the classical heathland style, sits on sandy soils and plays hard and fast through heather, broom and century old pine, chestnut, birch and oak trees. A couple of months after opening, the New Course was included in GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the World 2021-2022.
There are elements of a number of golf courses including a lot of the great heathland courses around London... I think that Jim Wagner and I are always influenced by Pine Valley, which is very near to us here at home, and I think that some of the scale of National Golf Links is apparent out there. If you roll all of those into one, I think that’s a pretty good recipe.

In contrast, the Von Hagge-designed Old Course carves a tree-lined, 7,009 yard (6,409 meters), par-72 course through the Sologne forest, intertwined with a stunning complex of lakes that offer a uniquely serene setting. The Old Course is widely considered to represent modern architecture at its very best and is perennially rated as one of Europe’s elite courses.
Les Bordes is undoubtedly the most celebrated golf course I’ve had the privilege to work on... Les Bordes possesses an inexplicable, but tangible, soul; which is authentic and addicting. Everyone connected with the place, everyone who visits, experiences this. And, once you have experienced it, it is impossible to be indifferent about your feelings for Les Bordes.
